GREECE-HEADQUARTERED shipping company Euroseas Ltd announced that it has successfully completed the installation of a variety of 'energy saving devices' on its 6,350-TEU intermediate containership Marcos V.

The investment was made in connection with the vessel's planned dry docking and special survey, according to London's Port Technology.

It was covered by the charterer, who simultaneously indicated their intention to extend the charter by at least seven months, until August 2025.

According to Euroseas, if the vessel is used after the current rental period, the owners will reimburse part of the cost to the charterer, up to a maximum of 50 per cent.

The ship was reportedly outfitted with the following devices: a redesigned bulbous bow, a lighter propeller, Hub Vortex Absorbed Fins (HVAF), Pre-Shrouded Vanes (PSV), silicone coating of the ship's underwater sections, LED lighting, autopilot update with improved environmental management and jacket pre-heater control.

Aristides Pittas, chairman and CEO of Euroseas, said: "We are pleased to announce the completion of retrofits for our M/V Marcos V, continuing our retrofitting programme, as part of our efforts to minimize the carbon footprint of our fleet.

"As in the case of the recent retrofit of M/V Synergy Busan, we cooperated closely with the charterer to specify and fund the modifications of the vessel and share the economic benefit from the improved performance."
